Past Study Abroad Trips
The College of Business鈥 study abroad program is designed to prepare students for careers in today's global economy. Faculty combine pre-travel classroom preparation with hands-on learning experiences, including company visits, meetings with business leaders, and cultural immersion. Students return with practical knowledge of international business and a deeper understanding of global markets.
United Kingdom: Annual Accounting Trip
Each year, the College of Business leads an accounting study-abroad trip to the United Kingdom to explore international accounting standards and business practices. Students tour manufacturing facilities, visit university campuses, and engage with accounting firms to understand how cultural and regulatory differences shape the profession. The program provides hands-on learning experiences that demonstrate how accounting operates in a global marketplace.
Ireland: Undergraduate Trip 鈥25
In 2025, the College of Business led an undergraduate study-abroad trip to Ireland and Northern Ireland to study how traditional industries work alongside newer companies that have made Dublin a tech hub. Students visited Ferguson's Irish Linen Factory, Visit Belfast Tourism Board, Guinness Storehouse, Teeling Distillery, Blarney Wool Mill, Murphy's Ice Cream, and more.
South Africa: MBA Trip 鈥25
In 2025, the College of Business led an MBA study-abroad trip to South Africa to study eco-tourism and sustainability in the Cape Town wine region and safari lodges near Johannesburg. Students met with local business leaders to unpack sustainable business practices in the tourism industry.
Ireland: MBA Trip 鈥24
In 2024, the College of Business led an MBA study-abroad trip to Ireland to explore the country's role as a hub for technology and innovation. Students examined Ireland's robust agricultural sector known for beef, dairy, and whiskey exports, while experiencing the country's rich cultural heritage. The program also explored how Ireland's history and culture shape its modern business environment.
Italy: Undergraduate Trip 鈥24
In 2024, the College of Business led a study-abroad trip to Italy, exploring how culture influences international business. Students learned from business leaders at the Gambrinus Hotel in Rome, the Italian Red Cross headquarters, six family-owned enterprises in Florence, a local winery, and Milan's fashion industry. Students also explored how Italy鈥檚 history and culture shape how Italian businesses operate.
Spain: Undergraduate Trip 鈥23
In May 2023, the College of Business led a study-abroad trip to Madrid and Barcelona. Students gained practical business experience through seminars and site visits, including sessions at the American Chamber of Commerce in Madrid, a tour of Athletico Madrid Football Club, and visits to the Port of Barcelona and Llopart Winery, where they learned about Spanish business practices and the local economy.
